“What I mean, brothers and sisters, is that the time is short. From now on, those who have wives should live as if they do not; those who mourn as if they did not; those who are happy as if they were not; those who buy something, as if it were not theirs to keep.” 1 Corinthians 7:29-30
Can you believe that stuff is in the Bible? Radical living for Christ is saying, “It doesn’t matter whether I’m feeling lonely, heartbroken, happy, or high on life. Life is so short. I can’t waste a SECOND getting caught up in the temporary. There’s work to do, and it’s going to matter a lot longer than just for this life.” It’s not that our feelings don’t matter to God–there’s plenty of Scripture showing that they do! The Bible talks about balance and teaches us what healthy self-care in a relationship with God looks like. But we have to take whatever situation we’re in and choose to focus on honoring God. Be deliberate about furthering His plan for the lives of the people He places in your path! Show grace, relinquish pride, speak truth, share the Gospel, and love with all abandon.
